The Sports Premium has been used in the following ways:

We are members of The King Edwards School Sports Partnership which provides ongoing CPD opportunities for the PE lead and school staff. Their specialist sports coaches work with teaching staff during curriculum hours to deliver activities or inset days which enables staff to access sports CPD. Their specialist coaches also deliver after school clubs enabling children in Key stage 1 and Key Stage 2 to participate in after school activities. King Edwards also host competitions for their member schools to enter. A school-based sports coach is also employed to deliver sports activities at lunchtimes and after school to ensure that pupils have access to extra-curricular provision. Ten Play Leaders from Year 5 have been trained to deliver activities at lunchtimes with the help of lunchtime staff, this develops pupil leadership skills.

PE

Pay for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport (CPD) and support with planning.

Participate in sports competitions (intra and inter-school) to increase children’s participation in School Games and develop links with local clubs

Invest in sports equipment for PE and sports to ensure staff and pupils have access to resources.

Provide after school clubs for pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Healthy Eating

EYFS will be working with http://startwellbirmingham.co.uk/ to ensure that physical development and healthy eating is promoted from an early age. Key stage 1 and Key stage 2 will be working with Cityserve to promote healthy eating through workshops and assemblies.

Accountability

A subject leader is appointed to lead PE and create sports provision and access to physical activity throughout the school day and after school. The PE lead works with staff to identify strengths and weaknesses across the school and provide the opportunities for teachers to develop their skills and subject knowledge through continuous CPD. All staff have access to planning from the PE HUB and have an overview of the activities they should be covering as part of their PE Lessons. The PE Lead works closely with the King Edwards partnership and other providers to ensure that pupils have access to a range of activities which promote healthier lifestyles.
